Shuweihat S2 IWPP , a Greenfield development project has a generating capacity of 1507 Megawatts (MW) of electricity of power and 100 Million Imperial Gallons a Day (MIGD) of desalinated water. The Plant includes two power and desalination blocks, each comprising two gas turbines, one steam turbine and three Multi-stage Flash distiller units. The gas turbines are the latest Siemens SGT5000F (94.3A (6)) gas turbines, complete with Siemens steam turbines and generators. The HRSGs are provided by Samsung and the MSF distiller units by Doosan.

The plant is owned by Ruwais Power Company (RPC) in which ADWEA has 60% equity and the remaining 40% equally shared by the private sector. RPC has Power & Water Purchase Agreement (PWPA) with Abu Dhabi Water & Electricity Company (ADWEC) and an Operation & Maintenance Agreement (OMA) with S2 Operation and Maintenance Company (S2 O&M).

S2 O&M is a private company which is owned by Engie, Marubeni and Osaka Gas.
